Affiliate disclosure

Some links on Growmanac are affiliate links: if you buy through one, the retailer pays us a small commission — at no extra cost to you. That's how a free, independent tools-and-guides site keeps the lights on. Our rule is simple: we only ever point you to gear we'd actually use ourselves, and what we recommend is never decided by who pays the most.

What an affiliate link is

When we suggest a product — say, a seed tray in your starting kit — that link may carry a tag that tells the shop you came from us. If you buy, we earn a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as going to the shop directly.

Our promises

• Usefulness first. We recommend what helps you grow, not what pays best. If the honest answer is "you don't need to buy anything," we'll say that.
• No extra cost to you. The commission comes from the retailer's margin, never as a markup on your price.
• Clearly marked. Wherever a link is an affiliate link, we say so right next to it — not buried.
• Editorial independence. Guides and the planner are written to be genuinely correct and cited. A product having an affiliate program never earns it a place in our advice.

How we mark them

Affiliate links are tagged rel="sponsored" (the standard search engines ask for) and open in a new tab, so it's always clear when a link may earn us a commission.
