Growmanac collects as little as it can. The planner runs in your browser — your garden's size, the crops you pick and the plan it builds never reach us. We never ask your device for its location. The only personal thing we ever store is an email address, and only if you type it into the newsletter form yourself.

The planner keeps your inputs on your device

When you use the planner or the zone finder, the work happens in your browser. The area you have, what you want to grow and the dated plan that comes out are computed on your machine and are never transmitted to us. We have no account system, no server-side profile, and nothing to log you into.

We also never call your browser's location API — you tell us a place by typing it, which means you stay in control of how precise you want to be. "Berlin" works; your street address is never needed and we would rather you did not give it.

Climate data comes from Open-Meteo — and your browser asks for it directly

To turn a place into frost dates and a growing season, your browser sends the place name you typed (and the coordinates it resolves to) to Open-Meteo, a free weather-data service. This is a request from your device, not from us, so Open-Meteo can see it came from your IP address, and we never see the request at all.

We chose it deliberately: it needs no API key and no account, so there is no identifier tying your lookups to you or to us. Their handling of those requests is governed by their own privacy terms.

Newsletter: your email, and nothing else

If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is sent to MailerLite, the service that stores our list and sends the emails. MailerLite sends you a confirmation email first, and you are only added once you click it — so nobody can sign you up but you.

This is a locked promise in our code: the signup form transmits only the address. It has no access to your planner inputs, so your location, garden size and crop choices are never attached to your email. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and leaving removes you from the list. You can also ask us to delete your address — see contact.

Cookies and local storage

Growmanac itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser's local storage. There is no analytics beacon and no tracking pixel of ours on this site. The only third parties your browser ever contacts are the two named below, and only at the moment you use the feature that needs them.

Advertising

This site shows no ads. That is not a preference toggled off in someone's dashboard — there is no advertising script in the pages your browser downloads, no ad slot, and no advertising cookie. There is no consent notice either, because there is nothing to consent to.

It may change one day: this is a free site, and advertising is one honest way to pay for one. If it does, this page is rewritten in the same change that switches them on — our own tests fail until it is. And one thing will not change either way: we do not target ads at anyone's financial situation, and we never will. That is a rule we have written down, not a setting we happened to leave off.

Children

This site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us an email address, tell us and we will delete it.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, the UK or another region with similar law, you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent. In practice the only thing we hold is a newsletter address, so "delete everything you have on me" is a single, quick request. Write to us and we will do it — see contact.

Changes

When what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
