Growmanac is a free website run by one person, not a company. There is nothing to buy, no account to create, and no subscription. Everything here is offered as honest help with growing food — guidance rather than a guarantee. Using the site means you are happy with the few things set out below, none of which take away rights the law gives you.

Who you are dealing with

This is a personal project, not a business: there is no company behind Growmanac, no staff and no legal entity. The person who runs it is Oğuz Demir, a software engineer in İzmir, Türkiye — about says who that is and why he is qualified to build this and not to lecture you about horticulture. That matters for expectations in both directions: you get a site built and checked by a human who gardens, and you should not expect the support desk of a company that does not exist. If you need to reach him, contact is a real inbox that is read.

What the advice is, and what it is not

The planner, the zone finder and the guides give you a starting point drawn from climate data and standard horticultural sources. Growing is not deterministic: your soil, your light, your microclimate and this particular year all have a say, and we say so on every page rather than in the small print. Treat a dated plan as a good first bet, not a promise of a harvest.

Some things this site deliberately does not do, and you should not read into it: it makes no claims about whether any plant is safe to eat, offers no foraging identification, and gives no medicinal, herbal or health advice of any kind. If a question is really about your health, it belongs with a doctor; if it is about eating something wild, it belongs with a source that specialises in that and accepts the responsibility.

Nothing to buy here

Growmanac sells you nothing, so there are no payment, refund or cancellation terms to read. Some product links are affiliate links, which means a retailer may pay a commission if you buy through one — at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked as such, and the full explanation is on the affiliate disclosure page. Anything you actually buy is a contract between you and that retailer; we are not a party to it.

The site carries no advertising at the moment. If that changes, the privacy policy will say what it means for your data before the first ad appears, not after.

The email list

The newsletter is opt-in and double-confirmed: you are only added after clicking a link in a confirmation email, so nobody can subscribe you but you. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and using it is the end of it — no retention period, no "we'll keep you on a reduced list".

Using what is on the site

The words, the tools and the code are ours. You are very welcome to use them the way a reader normally does: read them, follow the plan, print a page, send it to a friend, quote a passage with a link back, or show someone a screenshot of your zone card. What we ask you not to do is republish pages wholesale as your own, or feed the site into a scraped copy of itself — if you want to reuse something substantial, just ask; the answer is usually yes.

The climate data is not ours to license: it comes from Open-Meteo under the CC BY 4.0 licence, which is why they are credited on every page that uses it. If you reuse the underlying figures, credit them, not us.

Links to other sites

We link out often, because citing a source beats asserting a fact. Those sites are not ours: we do not control what they publish, sell or do with your data, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end. Sources also rot — if a link here is dead or has changed into something unrecognisable, tell us and we will fix it.

Availability

The site is free, and it is offered as-is. It may be slow, briefly offline, or missing a feature that used to work, and the climate service it depends on can have a bad day of its own. There is no uptime promise here, because a promise nobody is paid to keep is not worth reading.

Responsibility, honestly

Because this is a free personal project, the practical limit is this: as far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that follow from using the site — a crop that failed, seed that was bought and did not suit, or time spent on a plan that the weather ruined. We do check what we publish and we correct mistakes when we find them.

To be clear about what this does not do: it does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded, and it does not remove any statutory or consumer right you have where you live. If some part of this page turns out to be unenforceable where you are, the rest still stands.

Changes

This page changes when the site does, and the date at the top moves with it. Continuing to use Growmanac after a change means the current version applies — there is no separate notice, because there is no account to notify.
